Caught the ending of the news last night at 10 - very humble down to the last minute. He always seemed to come across as one of the team, not "I'm the star here - who are you" person.

So he joins the ranks of Milwaukee TV newscast icons. Couple that come to mind are Carl Zimmerman and John McCullough.
