It's not that big of deal. They gave in to Scripps' demands, which they could have fought a little longer, and did it without very much fanfare. The logo, imaging, music, etc is virtually the same as "The Lake" except it's now "The Shore"
It's so similar that if someone was listening in the background for example, they wouldn't notice. I attended Tremper High School in Kenosha. 92.1 was the only station they ever listened to in the main office my entire 4 years there. I don't think they were listening for the branding. They wanted the background music.
Another school I went to (For 1st-3rd Grade) used to have a radio playing in an office where they would make copies and cut out papers. The station they played was "The New 103.7" (WEZW) which eventually became "The New Magic 103.7" (WAMG) with the same exact format. That was a great station, as what was there before it (Easy Listening) They were not listening for anything other than the music. Nobody was in that office longer than 30min at a time. That's where I started becoming a complete radio geek by the way.
We can go back farther. My mother worked for the Gurnee, IL post office. They had a radio on playing WLTQ in the background. It was switched to 103.7 WAMG one day. Nobody was paying any attention to it.
Then there was that one day in 2007 when 92.1 evolved from EZ92 to Lite Rock 92-1. Same format, but it had some nice jingles added.
Now the world can move on from this. And you can stream it all on your computer or smartphone.
