I'll give these guys credit for opening up the playlist over the last year or so. Mix 105.1 really had a narrow playlist when it launched, but music-wise it sounds pretty good now.
But, two daily doses of the Slacker and Steve show? UGH. What happened to Jason Ryan? I think they just hired him away from WSJY earlier this year, but haven't seen anything about where he ended up after WMHX switched to morning repeats of Slacker & Steve a month or so ago.
Also, looking through Mix 105.1's facebook feed to try to see when they made the morning switch reminded me why I don't follow many radio stations on social media. Jesus. *20* posts so far today about random celeb news, memes, and other bullshit, including one of those oh-so-insightful "This." postings (just the word "this." and a link to a human interest story).
I un-followed Triple M on social media long ago because they were also cluttering up my feed with a bunch of garbage; Mix's social media presence is somehow even worse.
Anyway. Kudos for freshening up the music on the Mix, but 8 hours of Slacker and Steve is really excessive. Also, given the content on their show, I can't listen to it when my kids are in the car, so congrats on decreasing your TSL, Mix!
Will try to end on a nice note here ... I do like the 'two-minute promise' Entercom has rolled out on their stations. Anecdotally, I think it has kept me from hitting the button as much as I would otherwise. WMMM has also freshened up their playlist over the last year or so; seems like I'm hearing more new music on there than the minuscule amount before, but they could still stand to bump up the new music ratio a little, IMO, but I'll take what I can get.
