The FCC is about to vote on the Charter/Time Warner Cable merger.
The New Charter would incur $27 billion dollars worth of new debt, and have a total of $66 billion dollars worth of debt.
The only way they could possibly pay down that debt is to pass it on to us consumers by raising our bills.
If you're a Time Warner Cable or Charter customer and do not want your bill to go up considerably in the future, I want to encourage you to call the FCC and tell them to block the proposed Charter/Time Warner Cable merger.
Here are the key contact phone numbers.
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler: (202) 418-1000
FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn: (202) 418-2100
FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel: 1-202-418-2400
Just leave a short note telling them that you want them to block the merger because it will mean your bill will go up unnecessarily.
The only people who would actually benefit from this merger are the executives at Charter and Time Warner Cable.
Be sure to tell then your name, city, state, and phone number.
The Stop Mega Cable coalition does a good job of explaining why this merger is terrible all around not just for consumers, but for content creators as well.
