Well, I doubt anyone here is surprised, but iHeart's Rewind 92.1 hasn't exactly been killing it ratings-wise (or in any other way) since replacing the Mic back in November. Ratings are basically flat from the Mic's last book (and about 4x smaller than WOLX's).
I have seen absolutely no promotion for this station since it launched in November (and even then, that was at a Badger volleyball game where they mentioned the name of the radio station where fans could find the games). No billboards. No TV commercials. No bus boards. I've seen TV ads for Star Country, so I guess there's some money out there in the iHeart budget for advertising.
Both 92.1 and 94.9 both have "70s at 7" shows, but 92.1 seems to play a lot more 70s music throughout the day. Being more of a fan of the 80s and later, I'm more a fan of 94.9 and tend to listen to it more, though I've been making a conscious effort to sample 92.1 more often.
Both stations have a mix of local and voice-tracked talent from sister stations out of town. I can't say I'm terribly impressed by either station's on-air staff -- they're both bland.
92.1 started claiming they're playing 20 songs in a row back in January. I guess I somehow always manage to tune in at a bad time, because seems like half the time I switch over to 92.1, they're playing commercials.
Anyway, I generally like the classic hits format, and have tried 92.1 multiple times, but it does not look like Rewind will get the call up from the car radio's FM2 bank to FM1. :)
