...As Star 94 Drops His Show For Local Talent
June 29, 2010 at 11:17 AM (PT) - All Access
In a FORBES magazine profile attached to the annual "Celebrity 100" list of the "richest and most powerful" celebrities, RYAN SEACREST tells the magazine that when his CLEAR CHANNEL radio contract ends at the end of this year, he "doesn't think he'll sign another one." The article says SEACREST is being courted by CBS to do a talk show to fill the vacancy being left by OPRAH WINFREY's exit from syndication.
Not necessarily coincidentally, SEACREST's syndicated show has just been dropped by LINCOLN FINANCIAL Top 40/Mainstream WSTR (STAR 94)/ATLANTA. His midday shift is being divvied up between local personalities CHASE DANIELS and HEATHER BRANCH.
According to AJB.COM's RODNEY HO, STAR 94 added SEACREST's show in early 2009 and put him in middays, then was moved to afternoons before being put back into middays again. SEACREST was raised in the area and his first radio gig was at STAR 94.
Legendary STAR 94 personality TOMMY SULLIVAN told HO, [RYAN] took a lot of pride being on Star. He really customized content for the station." yet "didn't feel a connection" to the show, telling SEACREST, "It sounds good but there?s no relatability to the live factor."
SEACREST won't be completely off STAR 94, though. His weekend countdown show will continue to be heard.
