This is why WOLX isn't going anywhere, and is never even rumored here or elsewhere to be going anywhere. It's a well put together market staple. It's a lot like Z104 in the sense that its heritage makes its effective operation an ease for any nominally talented programmer. So it looks great on a res for a young APD/MD and/or PD.
: That said, what a huge book for WOLX -- has to be their best book in several years.
IMHO it is the latter. Full disclosure in that Fish isn't my cup of tea nor was he when he was paired with Connie at Z104. But I don't think he's doing as well as the marketing tells you he is. The music right now is what jamz has going for it. Its music isn't brilliantly programmed but they're getting it right on the powers and the powers on jamz are all charting high on itunes so the kids eat it up.
: Same for Jamz -- is the huge ratings bump from Fish, or are people just finally finding the station?
Has anyone ever got their hands on TDY's billing #'s? I would like to see that. It might provide some justification for the continuation of a station that has literally never performed well.
: Mid-West had a good book (Q106 aside). Huge growth for Magic, Jamz, and JJO. WTDY is still the runt of the litter. Beat by WHIT -- now that's funny.
You gotta look at the ownership and management on this one.
: WTLX still doesn't get it. You'd think that with the ESPN affiliation their ratings would be better, but the production on that station is absolutely horrible. Lots of problems with levels being off (sound is either too loud, too soft, or there are two programs running at the same time). Their "local" (imported from Milwaukee) shows like Homer and Green & Gold Today don't really stack up well against Lucas & Lepay or Heller on 1070, either.
