Couldn'tve said it better myself.
: Well it's been long enough now to comment on the changes at both stations. Tracy and Mike: Following the John and Tammy formula of the male/female interaction in a sort of
: stereotypical fashion (Guys like sports! Girls like hunks!) It's somewhat interesting, better than Jason and Nicole. This type of morning show seems to work best in Madison,
: with Connie and Curtis and Fish and Ashley doing basically the same thing. Star still seems to be using the morning show as their showcase, anchoring their appeal as
: personalities as the reason to listen.
: Q has taken to imitating Star's style, emphasizing personalities now. The problem is that they're missing out on the core idea. Star Country DJs are always speaking in terms
: of audience relations, trying to see through their eyes. Q's personalities talk more now, but they're selling themselves and the music. That's only the surface reason why
: people are listening.
: Q plays a better variety of music, but my preference goes to Star who at the very least pretends to give a damn about their listeners.
: There's no going back to Q's sound in the 90s. WJVL has managed to preserve it. Radio formatting has shifted with the times. John and Tammy understood radio in the new
: millenium and that's why their departure hurts Q even to this day.
