: : : : Send ya packages. Christmas presents all around! 1 to 1.5 years of $27.5/yr could be yours!:
: : : Surprising. Has Kiss ever fired a night jock before? This could be a first. Doesn't sound like a warm, well-wishing goodbye from Brian Kelly. What happened? Ratings?? Haze is a great talent, seems like he's had a string of bad luck.
: :
: : It didn't say. It sounded like he left on his own, because when he was hired BK loved him. And he definitely is the most large market experienced night jock to enter that building short of Zannie K who left after a month. But you're right-I can't think of a night jock that was ever let go. They've all left on their own. Kiss is a leading station but the low pay and slow technical upgrades to equipment make many dread their time there after awhile.
:
: Actually, in the 8 years I've been here every one of the night jocks left to take bigger jobs, not because they were unhappy. Brett went to do mornings in Wichita (then off to Portland), B-Dub went to Q102 in Cincy, and Pat Clark went to do mornings in Seattle. I don't think it's a "low pay" type of issue. In fact, I think the pay is probably pretty good.
To get the WXSS night jock progression right it goes:
Kraig Karson-left for WUBT/Chicago
Wes McKane-left for KDWB/Minneapolis
Zhanny K-left for KDWB/Minneapolis
Van McNeil-still with Entercom Milwaukee
B-Dub-left for Q102/Philly
Kracker (Pat Clark)-left for KQMV/Seattle
Brett Andrews-left for Z100/Portland
So Haze stands as the 1st to get fired, which he confirmed he was let go on his Facebook.
As for money its an average pay gig 25K-35K throughout the years. Probably an easy bonus based off of the stations overall performance 18-34. Remotes are scarce since its a fully staffed station with a 3 person zoo in the morning.
With PPM these days the next guy wont be in the same league talent wise with his predecessors. Which is sad. Because that position, used to, lead to big things.
