Milwaukee, Wis. — 94.5 The Lake (WLWK-FM) will add a new voice to Milwaukee’s morning drive when
Gretchen Bartlett moves behind the mic later this month.
It’s a coming home of sorts for Bartlett, who in 2002 was hired as a part-time producer for The Lake’s sister
station in the market, WTMJ-AM, and a promotions assistant for The Lake’s predecessor, WKTI-FM. In 2004,
she was promoted to air talent and promotion director at 93.1 The Point Hot AC (WMYU-FM), now Q93
Today’s Continuous Country. In the years since, she transitioned to mid-days and promotions director for Star 102.1 (WWST-FM), also in Knoxville.
Each of the stations is owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
Bartlett’s voice may be somewhat familiar to The Lake listeners, as she has been voice tracking evening and
weekend shifts since January.
“Those who know her understand our excitement to welcome her back to Radio City. She has a tremendous
amount of positive energy that we’re eager to pass along to THE LAKE listeners,” said John Roberts, the
station’s program director.
Bartlett was born and raised in Fort Madison, Iowa. She studied electronic media and public relations at
Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, graduating in 2002. She began her career as an intern with KZIA-FM in
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2001, then became part-time overnight and weekends on-air talent for the station.
“I am beyond excited for this opportunity, and to be back in my favorite city is just a blessing,” Bartlett said.
“John is a legendary PD, and I am looking forward to learning a lot from him while staying in touch with my
Journal Knoxville family. Now, let’s go Brew Crew!”
