Veteran Journal Broadcast Group radio programmer Beverlee Brannigan has been promoted to Vice President – Programming following a nationwide recruitment effort.
Brannigan will work closely with Journal’s local markets to sustain, strengthen and grow their brands. She will also act as Operations Manager for Journal’s Milwaukee radio operations, Newsradio 620 WTMJ (WTMJ-AM) and 94.5 The Lake (WLWK-FM).
Brannigan is a Massachusetts native and a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Her full-time radio career started with WOKQ in Dover, New Hampshire. In 1981, she transferred to KJJY in Des Moines, where she served as Program Director for 20 years. Brannigan joined Journal Broadcast Group in 2002 and has
served as Operations Manager at the company’s Wichita Operations and as Program Director of KFDI-FM. She was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2012.
“While Beverlee is best known for her country radio programming expertise, she has demonstrated her ability to apply sound strategic thinking across multiple formats and markets. I am thrilled to welcome her to our corporate team and look forward to her contributions,” said Executive Vice President Steve Wexler. “Many
very talented programmers expressed interest in this position, so it was gratifying to be able to promote from within Journal. This is a well-deserved promotion for one of our brightest people.”
“It’s a double privilege to step into this position— I get to work with the outstanding Journal team in Milwaukee, and with the incredibly talented and committed radio programmers all across our group. I can’t wait to get started,” said Brannigan.
