Hi, there. I'm one of the half dozen folks in Madison with an HD radio.
I've seen what Clear Channel has done with buying translators & feeding them with HD signals and thought, man, it'd be sweet if they'd buy one of the two religious translators in town and put the alternative format on WIBA-HD2 on it. The translators on 101.9 and 103.3 both seem fairly neglected -- 103.3 is frequently off the air, and 101.9's source feed sounds terrible (clear signal on 101.9, but the feed from WJWD is spotty).
Then again, besides having to shell out money for a translator that only covers half of Madison, this scheme would also require CC to actually keep WIBA-HD on the air, which is apparently beyond their capabilities at present. My experience has been that WIBA-HD is off-air more than it's on. I admit I listen to HD infrequently (no HD receiver in the car, just one hooked up to my home stereo), but WIBA-HD is off air for days at a time (was off the air when I checked over the weekend, still off-air now, and this is 'normal' for WIBA-HD). What is the deal? I've emailed CC Madison about it in the past and heard nothing back.
In the same vein, is 92.1 still on the air? I've had a hard time picking up the HD signal on 92.1 in the past, but the last few times I've tried, clear signal on 92.1 but no HD.
