Sounds to me like the White House erred in allowing him in. I'm not a fan of "everyone gets a seat at the table" just because you have a microphone. You have to prove yourself as a credible journalist. If that ISN'T the case, then internet radio geeks should all be issued White House credentials because they have a website where they talk about the news.
It all comes down to credibility and integrity. If a (liberal OR conservative) extreme whack breaks journalistic integrity they should no longer be considered a "news reporter". They are, in fact, then just another voice in the "opinion" world. They become someone who does a "show" for their audience. And, they give their spin and 'take' on the news - not report it without bias. (Read: Rachel Maddow, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ed Shultz, etc.)
I doubt the White House issues Rush Limbaugh access to news conferences. His microphone or a live feed, maybe, but not someone who is there asking questions on his behalf.
