My friend Rick Murphy died August 31st at 63, after a long life in Madison radio. I've known Rick since the Radio Free Madison Days.
He was a pioneer and radio innovator of the first order. More importantly, he will be missed as a creative genius and a sensitive soul whose potential could never have been realized in the secondary market town like Madison.
Rick was an enigmatic figure which went with the territory as entertainer and one who struggled with unappreciated intellectual genius. His sultry, bass tone is echoed in his well known radio and commercial work as well as his wonderful eulogies of so many of our friends who died way too soon... our dear friends Edward Ben Elson, Bob LaBraska, Mike Reuter, Andy Boehm, Tim Onosko, Colin McCamy and others who welcome Rick to the next dimension with love and appreciation.
God bless you Rick. We will miss you and your wit and talent.
Your friend, Bill
