This is see-thru.
It's upper management at Journal making a calculated decision to not appear "liberal rag"gy. They're hoping to be referred to less as "Sentinel Journal" or "The Dead Tree" or "The Urinal Sentinel." It's the same move that requires Mike Gousha to ask Tammy Baldwin about the latest Breitbart rumor, and Fox 6 to bring up the fact that Azana Salon didn't permit concealed carry. The rabid (red) crazies have taken over. They're running the plant now, and that's why you'll find me hidden over here nameless on free wi-fi.
Journal is launching a new product called RightWisconsin.com and WTMJ-AM is one of the company's most successful properties. That comes with benefits and inhibitions at the same time. It has TMJ4 and the newspaper clouding the right-wing radical ideals today's conservatives require. There can be no middle-ground for today's Republicans.
But Journal wants WTMJ-TV and the Journal Sentinel to have a broader appeal since gasp, there are some progressives here hence Barack Obama's 2008 win and his re-election in 2012 (mark the tape and hold me to that).
So distancing itself from endorsements allows the paper to remain independent and trustworthy to liberals, and not raise "red" flags to WTMJ-AM listeners and RightWisconsin.com readers (if it gets any traction outside of being Charlie Sykes' alleged new blog.)
This move is thinner than rice paper.
