I think they can make it work. Unlike other adult standards stations (like WOKY), they aren't necessarily targeting the retirement home demographic. They are making it much more contemporary sounding.

I checked out their sister station in Reno that plays the same exact format, and noticed that they seem to be doing well with sponsors. And they're not necessarily of the "I've fallen and can't get up" variety. I see it having some compatibility with B93.3, so that will help.

The fact that they're not running a talk format with local personalities targeting a somewhat unsupportive audience and client base means that they'll automatically make money on it. Or at least not lose money like WMCS did.

I do applaud MRA for at least doing something a bit different. There really aren't any stations in the market targeting adults that aren't airing some form of rock, country, pop, talk or R&B. Want the mellower stuff? Out of luck, unless you can pick up WEZY.

Aside from all that, what else are they gonna do with it, sports?
