Paul, I am in the Madison market, and we have all of the above on standard FM. Obviously, we have 92.1, which has survived longer than any of us expected. Also, WERN (88.7) runs classical quite often. Also, we have WORT which is hard to explain if you've never heard it. It's sort of what WMSE was 20 years ago. You never know what you're gonna get. Old time jazz, blues, latin music, hard left discussion, community interest, etc.
Funny thing is I wind up listening to 88.9 RadioMilwaukee on their iPhone app most afternoons. We always seem to want what we do not have.
I do have a suggestion for you. Why not invest in an HD Radio receiver? I've had one for about 4 years now and I love it. In addition to the local alternate programming, on some days I can pull in stations from Milwaukee in full HD, including their secondary channels. Even WUWM, surprisingly. Others can correct me if I am mistaken, but it seems that one of the stations in Milwaukee simulcasts 'The Mic' 92.1 on their HD alternate, also, I believe WHAD runs 24/7 classical on their HD alternate.
I'm old enough to remember when Milwaukee had full-time commercial classical on WFMR. How did I get this old? Anyway, hope this helps.
