It's about time. I know legal Ids are not that big of a problem (Nobody is getting fined for it)
But it takes absolutely no effort on the part of the station to record a lousy .wav file that says XXXX-FM City or XXXX and XXXX-FM City.
They could get anybody off the street to do it. Some stations even cash in on their legal IDs. "Broadcasting from the (blah blah car dealer studio, this is XXXX-FM City)
Or they could spike it into their weather forecasts. XXXX-FM City Weather (That's technically a legal ID if they follow the call letters with the city of licence)
They can bury it into a stopset. They can just say it if they don't have any recorded imaging. It takes no effort to crack a mic and say XXXX-FM City. Again, anybody can do it.
If they had to, they could run it in morse code and it would be legal.
In other words, there is no excuse not to properly identify your radio station. That is by far one of the most simple rules of radio.
