Mark Belling has never had a legitimate scoop / exclusive. Everything he does is ripped off from someone else, some blogger or little-known reporter from some small-town rag whom he never credits for their work.

Gene Mueller is the last Legacy Voice WTMJ has left. Why would it so shock Belling that Smiley would reach out to him instead of a screaming asshole?
