Can we have a companion series? Profiles in shitty engineering.

Paul, since you think ESPN 540 is thebomb.com of Milwaukee sports talk, maybe you can tell me: does it sound like its sister station in Madison? Which is to say: does it sound like a high school station with a bunch of kids learning how to run a board? Actually, scratch that -- I have heard better sounding high school stations.

For as long as I've listened to WTLX (not a real frequent listener, but have tuned in occasionally over the last 7 years), it has been a train wreck. Widely disparate levels between commercials, station imaging, and network programming. More than one source playing at a time. Network programming sound level way too low. Network programming sound level way too high. To put it succinctly: this station sounds like shit.

Every time I tune into SVP or try to catch some of the syndicated sports (e.g., Sunday NFL football), I am reminded why I don't like listening to 100.5.

I thought maybe when they moved the stick to Madison and landed the ESPN affiliation that they'd put some time & money into improving the sound of the station, but that has not happened. Not surprisingly, the ratings

But, hey, congrats to Craig for building a mini-empire. Hopefully the rest of his stations sound better than WTLX.
