The first problem with Bob and Brian is that the show is on way, way too long.
Cut it down to 2 hours if they're going to continue not playing music, or 3 hours with music inter spliced.
They simply do not have enough to talk about for 5 hours a day, hence all of the low-energy "Did you see what was on MTV yesterday?" segments.
The schtick *could* still work in smaller doses and with less inane, empty chatter but after 20 years of it; it's just gotten so very tiresome and stale. If you've tuned into the show for one week, you've heard everything they have to offer for nearly the entire year.
They talk like they're an old married couple in a loveless relationship who have nothing new to talk about and they just Do Not Care anymore.
The only thing that breaks up the monotony are the "We need content about Topic X, so call in!" segments where the callers drive the show content.
They are in a very comfortable rut which probably makes the show a breeze to do, but it also makes for ungodly boring listening when what I really want to hear by the time we get to 8 or 9 AM is less of them, and more music.
Dave and Carole is actually better by comparison and I think their show fits the station format a little better.
I don't really see why 102.9 NEEDS a morning show now that the Hog imaging and format is firmly in place. Wouldn't music be a nice alternative for people who want to wake up to the station's music instead of the same, tired old schtick?
I wonder if they'll still be there in 10 years? Can you even imagine?
