WDJT-TV (CBS 58) adds a Madison bureau
By Duane Dudek of the Journal Sentinel
WDJT-TV has added a permanent news bureau in Madison, the station announced.
The reporter David Ade is a multi-media journalist who will be reporting politics and human interest stories from Madison.
Ade previously worked at WICD-TV in Champaign, Ill. as a sports reporter, and does not appear to have any political experience. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University.
No other Milwaukee station has a reporter stationed there.
Instead they send reporters to the State Capitol as news warrants. However often they have experience covering state government, like Mike Lowe, of WITI-TV (Channel 6) and Kent Wainscott of WISN-TV (Channel 12).
WDJT news director Genie Garner, said in an email that his "diverse knowledge of news and sports" works "very well in a city like Madison." She said his "ties" are to the Midwest and "even before he started" he was educating himself about Wisconsin and Madison.
"When reporters come from other places, they bring new perspective," said Garner.
"They ask new questions. They aren’t caught up in the 'That’s the way it’s always been done' syndrome and that's what we hope to bring to our coverage."
