I find it unnerving to listen to any talk shows over the streams. Engineers haven't found a way to reproduce the compression on the AM band. Maybe they don't want to because that compression is thought of as unnatural. But I think it's what makes the AM sound and most AM voices are products of listening to AM radio, not streams, so that's how their presentation is aimed.
