This is what happens when your egos get in the way and you lose your sense of reality.
Connie and Fish were pretty good when Z104 brought them to town. The PD at the time let them run fast and loose, and they caught hold of the market.
Years later..
The two of them (Fish, mainly) REALLY thought they could be the nation's next Valentine or Ryan Seacrest or Kidd Kraddick. Hell, they had been calling themselves "The Connie & Fish Radio Network" for years. So they figured they could start with getting the State of Wisconsin on lock.
So they moved to Milwaukee and began doing mornings on a CC rock station, while syndicating their show back to the Z104 pop station in Madison, where they really built the name for themselves. Most people are baffled at the Top40 morning show choice for a rock station, and many 97.3 listeners aren't receptive to the new show. Many Z104 listeners start to notice C&F aren't appearing at Schoepp Motors anymore. Or anywhere. However, over time, the arrangement begins to grow on people.
Not too long later..
CC flips 97.3 to Top40. It only makes sense that they would keep their Top40 morning show on the new Top40 station, right? Bzzzzzzt. Wrong. Connie and Fish's syndication dreams go down the drain.
Instead, Elvis Duran got the next big syndication deal months ago, and as even more of a kick in the pants - he is getting C&F's morning spot on 97.3 in Brewtown.
Fish says "screw this, it means taking a pay cut, going back down in Market size, and this isn't what we talked about!!!" and he exits with the standard "this resignation has been in the works for awhile, nothing to see here, please drive through.." and Connie, admittedly as solid a female jock as there ever was, is left probably wearing doubled-up Depends that need to be changed on the hour.
