Why don't they just merge into WPR and flip it to the News And Classical format, which we actually could use in the Milwaukee market?
MPR (89.7 WUWM) doesn't offer much of anything that we can't find on either A). Commercial radio stations (the music they play), or B). WPR's News And Classical Network (Morning Edition, All Things Considered, etc).
It just seems like an incredible waste of resources and effort when the market would be better served by WPR's News And Classical format which actually offers something unique (IE: classical music) and all the same NPR content that WUWM currently airs.
I bet MPR does't even get close to 1/3rd of the donations that WPR does (and yes obviously WPR has a lot of stations and a larger "voice")
Does anyone here listen to WUWM in favor of WPR? Do you listen specifically for their unique in-house programing? Or do you listen for the NPR programing they carry? Just curious.
